VIENNA - Five Filipino young artists are participating in Young Art Philippines, their first exhibit at the Museum for Young Art (MOYA) in Vienna, Austria, as part of a month-long European tour.
This exhibit by five multi-awarded Philippine artists, namely, Eman Santos, Jojo Austria, Robert Fernandez, Marcial Pontillas and Sam Penaso, is organized by Mr. Ver Cuizon and Mr. Bill Perez in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Vienna and with the support of the Filipino community.
Ambassador Linglingay F. Lacanlale hosted a reception for 70 guests at the opening of the week-long exhibit on 8 June 2009.
Ambassador Lacanlale and Dr. Haydar Sari, Chief of the Intercultural Affairs of the City of Vienna cut the inaugural ribbon during the reception and delivered some remarks.
The Ambassador noted that the Embassy welcomes the exhibit as a way to deepen Europe’s appreciation of the Philippines, citing that the five young artists "bring with them the idealism, sensitivity and the ingenuity of their generation as well the openness of their art and healthy interaction with global influences."
